The AHRC was formed in 1965 and was comprised of Hot Rod & Custom Car Clubs from throughout NSW. A common interest was shared – the advancement of Hot Rod and Custom Car Car Shows in NSW.
Since the AHRC was formed, many shows at various locations have been held. Between the sixties and the eighties, locations included Cremorne Totem Centre, Roselands Shopping Centre, Bankstown Square and Yennora Woolshed.
Owing to Sydney Show Venues becoming increasingly unaffordable in the late eighties and early nineties, to the dismay of the AHRC and it’s members, shows were unable to be held or promoted.
In 1995, the Associated Hot Rod Clubs was able to regroup and, with the help of some of the original committee members, was able to hold car shows again on a smaller scale at Macquarie Shopping Centre. It is from here that the AHRC were able to rebuild their status and reputation for fantastic and outstanding cars shows.
The AHRC, in conjunction with MotorEx, have now moved their shows from the small scale to the big – a major move for everyone to the Sydney Showgrounds, Sydney Olympic Park. The AHRC holds the biggest and best indoor Hot Rod & Custom Car Show in Australia.
The AHRC now comprises of hot rod and street machine enthusiasts – both young and old from all walks of life bringing with them many different skills and abilities to bring you the best possible show they can.
The aim of the AHRC hasn’t changed – it is still a common interest amongst all – the continued advancement of Hot Rod and Custom Car Shows through the state.
We ask you to work with us to make this better for you – car shows have been one of the major features and promotional tools for our hobby for over 40 years. The committee is always looking for new and interesting ways to keep the Hot Rod and Street Machine community entertained – give us your feedback – it’s all welcome!!
Kevin Daley was the driving force of the Sydney Hot Rod Show for the last 10 years and following Kevin’s passing, the Sydney Custom Auto Expo will continue in his memory - as he would’ve liked it! Thanks for all your support and dedication to the show and Hot Rodding Scene – It has and always wil be appreciated!!!
